FIRST ROMANIAN ROCKET TO BE LAUNCHED INTO SPACE IN OCTOBER

For the first time in their history, the Romanians will launch the first Romanian rocket into space in October. The rocket was named Helen, and the project is of a private nature, being initiated by the Romanian Association for the Cosmonaut and Aeronautics, a nongovernmental organization.

The project aims to achieve the first flight of a Romanian rocket launched to the moon and help the Association to detach far enough from the other opponents in the Google Lunar X Prize competition, offering the winning team a prize of 30 million dollars.

Project Coordinator, Mr. Dumitru Popescu said that everybody worked very hard for this competition, the technical side, especially to raise funds and attract sponsors, but not specifying the costs, announcing only that the Romanian state had no financial contribution .

The rocket is 300 meters and 2,000 kg, having the volume of a block of 10 floors.

Action successfully completed this project will be a first step towards the development of Romanian and technological revolution, which can get very far in the Galaxy and the Universe in a relatively short period of time.
